I was wondering if there is an AGP or PCI to PCI-Express adapter, for old motherboards with only AGP support.

Albatron peddled the ATOP bridge card that works in the opposite, but going with the others, the odds of you finding something that works in reverse so as to convert your AGP motherboard into a PCI-E motherboard is extremely slim to none.

You may consider a motherboard that has both AGP & PCI-E slots that would be compatible with your current CPU, but if you were to do that: you are only trying to avoid what is inevitable. In reality returning the PCI_E card or exchanging it for an AGP card might just be your best bet. There are still AGP cards out there that perform decently.
