Subject: AGP - No power for fan?OS: WinXpCPU/Ram: AMD900mhz/512 |
Comment: Hello. I have an ASUS A7A266 MB. Currently I have a NvidiaFX5500 Card in the AGP slot. For some reason the fan of the card is not turning. I also tried another video card and its fan also doesn't turn. I think maybe my AGP port is not getting enough power? I have a 3-pin jumper next to the AGP port. I tried both combinations and the fan still doesn't work. Anyone have any solution to this. Thanks

Reply: (edit)Are u sure that ure card is set to the right settings? For example: Some cards have and agp 4X 1.5v and etc. Check your motherboard and video card manual to see if it's supported. www3.telus.net/scmaps -The site for stepmania and starcraft downloads-

Reply: (edit)Although I can't find the data right now I believe to recall A7A266 supports 4x AGP and FX5500 is an 8x card. 1) Check BIOS AGP settings to make sure it's properly set to 4x AGP. (1.5v AGP not 2.2v) 2) Many 8x cards come with a power connector on the card. It's absolutely necessary to connect it to your Power supply. If neither of these are the cause I would inspect the AGP port or card as it may be 1 of the pins is burnt/damaged. A single pin is usually dedicated to power the fan... Could be that one is damaged.

Reply: (edit)Yupe, the MB only support up to 4X AGP and the Video card runs at 8X. However, everything is running fine except that the fan is not turning. I went into the Bios but I can't seem to find a way to change the voltage for my AGP slot.

Reply: (edit)I highly recommend you get a new motherboard for this one, though (with AGP 8x, of course). "I have a 386 Pentium." -customer
