Specs: Windows XP
wrote zeroes to WD hard-drive and want to format drive in NTFS for storage only (no OS); can you use XP cd and then stop after format before install of XP OS?

With that 2nd drive properly installed in a PC as a backup drive, just use the XP Disk Management utility in XP (in Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Disk Management).

Just another stupid saying...

thanks for the "how to" with using windows utilities (disc man.) to format the second HD. worked perfectly and was easier than using OS cd and going into the bios to setup (I am not a bois-friendly user). thanks again!
