Ok guys so a little while ago I was having problems with my computer randomly screwing up turning off or not turning on and giving me a beep code. Fixed it. Motherboard was bad. Now I got a new mobo but I get an NTLDR Missing message. I got this message when I had the old mobo and it was due to the fact that i reset my cmos. What do you think it could be now? Any way I could recover the MBR because it looks to me like its just a problem with the booting

Replacing the motherboard can cause XPs 'Activation' code to go ballistic. You will probably have to do a 'Repair' install and you might also have to re-activate.

Ok i figured it out, the cause was an old HD which probably went bad but now when i get to the xp login screen I dont see the user accounts to choose from just the blue screen and a windows logo nothing else.

Ill try to do a repair install or something to fix windows without having to reinstall because I have some very valuable files on there. Any suggestions?

A repair install 'shouldn't' destroy your files. But if you really want to play it safe, remove the drive and connect it as a slave to another XP PC and do the saves.

By the way, you will lose all the windows updates when you do a repair.

You MAY need to take OWNERSHIP of the drive/ partition. Now that the MBoard is new you are a stranger to WinXP.
