Hi everybody.

Since I've been having some issues with my OS (including an impossible-to-install sp2), I've decided to reformat my HD, but I also want to take advantage of that to upgrade my hardware. Specifically, I want to know which is the latest Intel chipset and an adequate processor for it. I've heard something about a processor that is reported as having TWO processors in system's info (something regarding multi-tasking, I think).

Thank you in advance.

The term you're referring to is Hyper-Threading. (HTT) Any upgrade to your current system will involve replacing the powersupply, Motherboard,CPU,RAM and probably the graphics card as well. This is because the next generation P4 class processors and boards are just that. Next generation. They have an additional 4 pin power connector that your current powersupply does not have. The SDRAM that you have won't work in a new board. HTT requires twin pairs of DDRAM. The graphics card you have is probably 2X AGP but most modern boards have 8x which is backwards compatible to 4X. Your current Piii system isn't worth trying to upgrade unless you are prepared to replace virtually everything inside the case.
