Hey people! I've just ordered my ADSL and was wondering if I need 2 put a micro filter on each socket of the phone line which the ADSL is going 2 b connected on?? I was told only the master socket where the modem goes in only needs the micro filter.

You'll need a filter a every jack except where you have the modem going into. If you have the know how, you could put the filter on the incoming line at the demarc (your basement ??) where it comes into your house, and make every jack protected from there and leave only your modem jack unfiltered. Thats if you know how, and if you know which cable actually runs to your modem.

You can run ADSL without any filters at all if you wish. Just plug the modem cable directly into the phone jack. Filters are only needed for any phone jack that you are also going to use a telephone with. You can run your ADSL modem of the master socket or extension socket. All the filter does is remove the high frequency DSL signals and prevents any unwanted signals from the telelphone from corrupting the DSL signal. The low frequency audio signals are not filtered, either on the telephone line nor the DSL line and are simply discarded by the DSL modem Stuart

You need a DSL microfilter on any alarm system, fax or caller ID box attached to the line also.
