Adding sound card with onboard soun

hi. If I add a sound card to my system that already has onboard sound do i have to go into the BIOS and disable the onboard or will it do that on its own?

I have built like 6 computers, all i gotta do is install the driver for my sound card then it will go through.

You can have multiple sound adpaters. Choose the one you use in the Control Panel/Multimedia

Okay thanks. If I just go ahead and install the new one without disabling the old one in the BIOS will the old one still use up system resources?

If you don't need it, disable it. There may be a setting in the BIOS...or there may be a jumper on your motherboard...possibly both
