Not being the most knowledgable computer user, what is the difference between an IDE drive and a SATA drive?

Answers in plain english would be greatly appreciated.

Also is there a website where I can look up computer terminology and get a simply explanation?

SATA stands for "Serial Advanced Technology Attachment."

Serial is about 50% faster than most of the regular IDE hardrives out there. For the price at the moment, they're worth it.

Computer terminology? Just say "what is _______" in google and it will give you a definition. Put like "what is sata?" in the google search engine and it will give you a definition result.

Thanks for the help guys.

When I read through some of the threads on this site I feel a complete goose not knowing half of what is being talked about.

It also doesn't help when you are old enough to draw the pension.

Having only played with computers for such a short while I have come to the conclusion that when people say "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing" they are right.

I have learnt quite alot from this site and I think you guys do a fantastic job helping other people with their problems.

I think the best thing I can do is keep on reading and learning.

Thanks again

FrankW
