Hi,

I am adding ram to someones laptop here, and just a quick question. Like most laptops, this has two memory banks. They each have a 256mb dimm totalling 512mb. Does dell require both banks to be full to work, or can I take out BOTH dimms and put in 1 - 1gb dimm? What if I left the 256 in the second bank and put the 1gb in the first bank? Would that register?
It's a dell inspiron e1705
Thanks!!

I suggest you check type and amount of RAM that laptop can use at Crucial.com

I don't believe you need to fill both slots but there will be a slot and total RAM limit.
