Wanted to add 512 mg of memory to my laptop. Already had 512 mg Samsung DDR2 PC2 533 4200. Bought a stick of Crucial DDR2 PC2 533 4200 put it into the open slot rebooted my laptop but the total ram is still 512. Switched slots the memory was in same thing doesn't show up. Put the new stick in either slot (tried both slots) & it still showed 512mg. Now when I say It shows 512 I'm looking in my computer properties & also in system information. Any ideals here I could use some help. Thank you all for your time & help.

Go to crucial.com and use their online configurator to find out how much and what kind of RAM is compatible.

My laptop supports the total of 2 gig of memory. I was happy with the 512mg but thought I put another 512 mg in it anyway wouldn't hurt. Is it possible the Crucial memory isn't compatible with what I already had? (samsung) Both were DDR2 PC2 533 4200.

Can't offer any help when you don't even bother to list the make/model of the laptop.
