Adding hard drives

Hi,
I'd like to know if its possible to add more than one or two hard drives- like three four five etc... And if yes, how? There seems to only be two IDE cables, and within one of them, only room for about two or three slots...
Is there a piece of hardware that has to be bought to allow more drives?

If you purchase a PCI adapter card, be sure to get one with 48bit LBA support. Otherwise you will be limited to drives under 137gb.

Ok thanks. In short, there is a limit to how many the motherboard could take, it seems? Thats why you need a PCI card which can allow more...?

I don't know what motherboard you have, but most come with 2 IDE channels that will accept 2 drives on each (master & slave). That gives you a max of 4 IDE devices.
If you add a controller card, that will give you 2 more channels of 2 drives each...so you can add up to 4 more IDE devices.
