Installed a second hard drive in my computer. I went into BIOS and it showed up there. I clicked on configure and saw no sign of any action but when I went back to Disk Management it showed up there but not in file explorer. I have right clicked on on the drive and have not found any option to format the drive. Right clicking in the right plane gets the option of New Simple volume, on the left gets the options of Convert to Dynamic Disk or to MBR Disk. Disk Management says that the HD is fine. I am pretty sure I do not want to use the MBR option. I still cannot see how to get the OS to see and use the new drive. New drive is now a Seagate Barracuda 2 TB.

✔ Best Answer
You want it as a new simple volume.

From there will be fairly straight forward, you will decide on partition sizes and formatting options.

Thank you very much. Simple volume and then format worked! Drive now shows up and I can access it.
