I have bought a microphone to help me with a French course I am doing and am not sure how to connect. I have connected it but there is now sound so I may have done it wrong or there may be another reason for it. Can anyone advise? Diggo
right click on the volume icon near the clock...then click "Open Volume Control". Is the microphone listed? Is it muted?

Hi jam, Thank you for reply. I went into 'Volume Control' and microphone is not listed although I have connected it to computer. None of the other things listed were muted. Diggo

The control you are looking for is recording control, not master volume. You are almost there, though. From master volume select options then select properties. Choose recording then make sure microphone is checked. This will bring up recording input levels which need to be adjusted to suit your needs. Good Luck Bob

Thank you Bob for the information. I can get sound now but there is an awful clicking noise with it - I must work on the adjustment of input levels now. Cheers Diggo
