I am modifing my computer with some lights. My latest mod was putting LEDs in my floppy drive and adding a clear flap in the front. It worked, but I have some small problem. During boot up, I get a "Floppy Drive Fail (40)" error. Even if I skip it, the drive works perfectly. Not sure why but adding LED's to the 5V line of the floppy triggers that error. I have done a similar mod to a hard drive (w/ window) and connected the wires to the 5V line where the connector plugs in and no errors at all. As for the drive itself, it's in perfect shape. Considering the drive works normally I searched the bios to disable floppy diagnostics but I didn't find anything. So any idea why this error pops up?

Just a guess, Some drives use photo detectors
to detect write protect and disk type. Maybe
your clear front is letting light in.
