Acer wireless keyboard malfunction

October 13, 2011 at 04:15:39
Specs: Windows 64
My Acer wireless keyboard is malfunctioning. When I turn on my computer and before I can type-in my password, a line of x's run across the space and prevent me from accessing my computer. At the moment I can only access my computer by using the 'on screen' keyboard.
I should appreciate any advice. Thank you.

Have you tried replacing the battery?
Have you tested with a hardwired USB keyboard?
Have you tested all of your keys to see if you have any that are physically stuck down?
Was anything spilled on the keyboard?
Have you tried downloading the latest drivers for the keyboard?
If you cannot repair it yourself and the problem is definitely physically in the keyboard itself, replacing it would probably be cheaper than having someone even look at it for repair.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Many thanks for your help. I believe that the problem is in the keyboard and I may need to replace it.
