Specs: Win xp, P4 1.7ghz/ ddr266 1gb
I got this pc from a friend (acer power ST), it's very difficult(may be impossible) to install any os. The problem is, during installation some files refuse to copy ( is one them), HDD, RAM, DVD DRIVE, OS DISC are fine (tested on another system) and now i got new issue.
After post screen i see a table (contain system info) and at the bottom i see this "VERYFYING DMI POOL DATA.............." i google it and saw some fixes but it didn't help ,i think this issue is related to why i can't install any os. Do u think updating bios will help?

One of the threads in your link covers this. "3. Enable "Reset Configuration Data" (may be "Force Update ESCD" in some CMOS Setups) in the motherboard CMOS Setup PNP/PCI configuration. (Rebooting will automatically disabled it after it has done its thing.)"

Did you try that?

Depending on the OS, you may or may not want the BIOS to configure the hardware. Try both ways.

Also, check for bad capacitors on the motherboard. Look for bulging or leaking.
