Does anyone know were to get MS-DOS drivers to the CD-ROM drive from an old Acer Acros.
I need these drivers to reinstall Windows 95 when it crashes. (believe me, it will) The CD-ROM is SCSI NOT IDE so it cannot be slaved off the Hard-drive. (it is connected through the sound card)What is real interesting is that the motherboard has a SCSI port on it, but no pins have been soldered on. So if they were there I wouldn't be here right now.Windows 95 reports the following as the CD-ROM:
Trantor Media Vision SCSI controller
^
This is the part of the sound card the CD- ROM plugs into.MEDIAVIS CDR-H93MV
^
The actual CD-ROM drive.Thankyou for anyhelp you may provide.

Multimedia Kit MV-3000. This file contains the install program/drivers for both the Media Vision sound card and CDR-H93MV CDROM.
File name: CDR-H93MV.zip

You need to create a Driver Guide account to get the file.
This only takes a few seconds and is free.

Since the system is up and running, you might check all the config.sys type files to see if one loads the CD driver, then search HD for it.

Yes, save the driver and the config.sys and autoexec.bat files and restore them after a reinstall. You'll also need mscdex.exe, but it will be available after the reinstall in the c:\windows\command folder.

mscdex.exe will not work with this CDROM drive since that is for ATAPI IDE drives only. The CDR-H93MV drive works with a special SCSI interface on the sound card. Without the SCSI driver for it, it will never work.

I found this page:
http://www.tech24.com/help/tools/download_driver.asp?id=3509and
http://www.driverzone.com/drivers/adaptec/dosdrvr.htm
and, maybe?
http://www.help.neu.edu/dl/medvis/medvis.htm
look through here:http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/supporteditorial.jsp?prodkey=scsiworks_readme
I think the last one.

Thank you so much! I still have the origenal autoexec.bat and Config.sys, so it should be a breeze to set it up.
The computer was givin to me. The person who gave it to me tried to remove all personal settings and must of thought the folder with the cd-rom drivers was personel, so that is why it needs the dos drivers again. The computer remains almost in origenal condition. I have found a stripped packered bell computer in a dumpster and took its 75mhz CPU out and put it in the ACER, so the Acer is 2-3 times faster! I have it upgraded to Windows 95. Just a little story on how I got the Acer.
I will try the one at Driverguide since it also has the sound card drivers.
Thankyou for your help.
