Acer laptop touchpad problem

I have an Acer Travelmate 2201LC which is working perfectly fine except for the touchpad.
Windows has just been re-installed after new hard drive being added, previously the touchpad worked fine
It is now not detected in device manager at all and I am having to use USB mouse
Any suggestions I don't have a lot of experience with laptops and particularly touchpads

Assuming there is not a bios issue :)
You will need to go to Acer support and download the touchpad software drivers.I only saw this as a possible match-synaptics touchpad driver.Go to below website.

You don't mention if this is a total or partial failure after the hd was replaced? It may be the touchpad was not reconnected properly when the computer was reassembled.

HDD can be removed from the bottom without disassembling the laptop. Only 2 screws to remove and then replace HDD.
Its always possible I managed to knock something loose mind you.
I have tried the software already but I will try it again though to make sure and let you know how that goes.
