Acer Aspire laptop, Windows 7, on mains power (battery light not on so the power is getting through).
The laptop screen is dark, when any key is pressed the display returns for about 1/2 second then goes dark again. The computer is processing OK.
Connecting an external monitor: 1st time; display on monitor was fine.
2nd time, display on monitor going on and off as on the laptop screen.
Switched laptop off and on; monitor and laptop display both on. Laptop now working fine with external monitor.
Any suggestions as to what could be causing the problem please?
