I have never seen a power switch go bad. If nothing happens when you press the power button, the problem is with the power supply, not the switch.
I disagree. I have an acer laptop and the switch is definitely going bad. I have to press it several times or press really hard or wiggle my finger ont he button to make a connection. The battery and power supply work fine once the switch makes the power connection and the computer powers up.
