"but my net book still says that my system is to slow"

That doesn't make any sense, do you mean Skype is saying your system is too slow?

What problems are you experiencing with Skype?

The vidoe and sound is terable , I never used to have any trobles on a older machine , I was told that this acer would work , but since day one with skype its had a message that pops up saying that the computer is running to slow.

The camputer runs knomal video from youtube fine

I have also tried intalling older vertions of skype which requires less resources, but same problem

The only way to know if the system is good enough it to reload it from OEM media. It will remove all your data. It will however see if any other issues prevent skype like malware, too many programs running or what.

Guess you would try to look at performance monitor to see all the possible measurements to offer a clue.

Hang up and live.

Hi Capt,

For Skype to work correctly, it needs speed.

I would check what applications are running. Check which programs load at startup, remove any not needed. This should be done regularly.

I bet Skype will work fine without video, which uses a lot of processor power.

If so, the test call facility may also give terrible sound, but sound should be ok on a normal call.

Also check the version of Skype you are using is ok with your os:- WXP.
This is quite old now. e.g with W2000, anything later than Skype will not work.

Please advise back on progress.

As a matter of interest, where are you based? I am in Hammersmith, West London.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.

A common netbook that is working correctly and has a good enough ISP speed ought to be usable.

Hang up and live.
