Try removing the battery and unplugging the power for a minute or two. Plug it in, and then try it.

I've tried that along with taking the battery out and keeping it plugged up. I have also tried hooking up a monitor to it but it doesnt go through. I took everything out and put it back in the laptop still nothing. Im starting to think that the hard drive might be bad... anything i left out?

Hi Mkirkland, Acer have a support webpage which may help:-

I would not suspect the disk at this stage.

If *NOTHING* is appearing on your screen, I would suspect that first.

You advise you hooked up another moniter which also showed *NOTHING*. But this could be misleading, as are you sure it is recognised, by just connecting?

Please advise back on progress.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.

I had an Aspire 5517 hanging during start-up, just as the ACER logo/press F2 to enter setup appears. It would do nothing from there. I downloaded the latest BIOS to CD and placed the CD in the laptop bay for reboot. The CD helped it by-pass the start up sequence and allowed some repairs to damaged files to be made. The system is now back in working order, no data or configurations lost.

When you tries the monitor, do you press the relevant keys, for an external monitor?

If you still see nothing, it's not the hard drive, it could be graphics card or motherboard.

A thank you would be nice, if I have helped.
