August 15, 2012 at 11:06:06
Specs: Windows XP
I am going to give this dual operating/ sysyem dual hard drive unit to a friend
but would like to power it up and remove personal data
currently it will NOT power up
how do I ascertain if the power supply is bad
or what I have to repair to give a funtioning computer away?
please help explain what I do to ISOLATE= switch fuse or power supply?
so I can do it myself
so I do NOT incur any cost
(since I am giving it away with BOTH ooperating systems intact

thanks

won't power up
No light, no beeps, & no fans spinning right?
If i am correct replace the PSU first.

If u don't mind people recovering your personal information u can just cut and paste your data on another drive but if u do mind u have to wipe the whole drives after backing-up your data. For this operation use Darik's Boot and Nuke.

The other option is to use File Shredder software to permanent delete the data.

I would like to access the power switch & isolate it 1st? can someone help me with that?
it's of course burried @ the far side
(side that does NOT open)
under both hard drives
the most idiotic placement.
file shredder can't do that
if I can't power it up...

Did u read this part?
I insist to swap the PSU.

Just follow the power switch wire to the motherboard and disconnect it then use screw driver to touch two power headers, if done correct the system should power up.
