Accent marks to plus sign

Specs: Windows Vista
My HP keyboard KB-0630's number keys do not work except I can use the backspace on that row. only on the numlock setting can I get numbers, everything else works fine and dandy how do I fix this?

So the row of number keys above the letters doesn't work and the only way to show numbers is to use numlock and the number pad on the right side of the keyboard? Do the upper case symbols work in that row--@,#,$,%, etc?

Has it always been this way with your current configuration or did it start happening 'out of the blue'? What happens when you try another keyboard? Is the keyboard identified right (probably in control panel)? Does the keyboard need drivers installed (doesn't seem likely as the number row is standard but. . .)?
