AC Not Detected

Comment:

All of a sudden today, my HP laptop started running on battery power despite being plugged into AC. It doesn't seem to notice the power, and is draining the battery to run. Does this indicate a problem with the battery or with the converter?

Check the DC power connector that the AC adapter plugs into, to see if it's loose. They sometimes break loose from the motherboard.

I took all the screws out of the bottom, and couldn't for the life of me get access to the area where the plug connects. However, I put it all back, and plugged it in again, and it worked. I think maybe the converter in the cord overheated. Thank you for your help, though.
