Model/Manufacturer: compaq armada m700
Comment:
I have a compaq armada m700 laptop. I plug it up and the lights come on but no display or the cdrom wont come open. I checked the display by hooking up a external monitor still nothing. IM hoping that the ac adaptor is not working 100 percent and that it isnt my mother board. Got any suggestions? Please let me know. The battery is dead so cant check it there.

Did your laptop work with out a good battery before. Some laptops do not.

It 'does' sound like a power problem, since the cdrom drive will not open.

Check the connector that the AC adapter cord plugs into, to see if it wiggles. They often get broken loose from the motherboard. It might be a cheap fix.

Remove battery, try again.

If you carefully read the converter it will say the voltage and current (such as 15VDC 3A and a thing that show where Positive is on the plug). You might borrow another adapter and try or go to a thrift shop. They sell them cheap.

Take to a computer store. Some will test for a small amount. Try big name place.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, are in my top 10
