I have am old pc Dell Dimension T500 with with a single card of SIEMENS 128MB PC100 RAM(Double sided 2*8 Chips). Im running on windows 98 & mainly run Photoshop 7 often with large files. Seeing as im spending around £10 on a single mail order delivery item i thought id upgrade my ram as its so cheap these days! Can anyone tell me if im limited to buying a similar 128MB PC100 card or can use differnent combinations of ram (i.e. 128+256 or 128+512+512(all pc100 of course);i have 2 free slots). i can upgrade to windows 2000 without too much trouble. I am thinking of totally overhauling my pc to a P4 2.4MHz, Rambus & Raid supporting motherboard but am "squeemish" about parting with my cash & want to start at the shallow end of the upgrading swamp so to speek.
Thanx 4 any help!

It all depends on your particular motherboard. www.crucial.com has a calculator for finding the max amount your computer can hold. You don't have to buy from there to use it, but they have good prices.

The info should also be in documentation that came with the computer, at the maker's website, or even could be on a sticker inside the case.

The RAM chips don't have to be the same. My machine has 384MB (128 + 256) for instance. Your's can likely hold 384MB (128 x 3) or 768MB (256 x 3) max.

Best Luck,
Bob
