Subject: A problem with my video card?OS: Windows XPCPU/Ram: 1.8Ghz 1024MB RAM |
Comment: I have a Radeon 9600 SE 128 AGP card and just recently my computer has started to get glitchy when playing games. I would be exploring an area and all of the sudden parts of the world would get highly pixelated and distorted. I thought maybe it was just a one time glitch so I restarted my computer. The problem still persisted so I upgraded the drivers and now the game is even more distorted and glitchy. The screen is really buggy and it is like there are squares covering the whole screen, I tried a variety of games and they all seem to have the same problem. My windows explorer works fine with the exception of a few icons being distorted. The windows logo screen when you boot up the computer is also distorted. I'm thinking that maybe its an error with any game or application that uses directdraw (i also tried running a few games in opengl but with no luck) because my movies and 2d games are also affected. I just want to make sure that it is definately a problem with my video card before dropping some money on a new one. Any help would be appreciated.

Reply: (edit)Sounds like the card could be overheating. Does it have a fan? Is it working? Dust clogged? The 9600SE isn't a good gaming card anyway...now you have an excuse to upgrade. This space for rent
