which is better at the moment intel or AMD?

comparing an i5 system (750) and its overclocking
ablitities and an AMD Phenom X4 @3GHZ +
overclocking which is better, and i compare only with
ddr3 as i5 does not support ddr2?

AMD seems about 30/40 pounds cheaper which
means i could get ddr3 and would that be worth it as
of what ive heard at the moment the timings are
shocking compared to ddr2, so yeah which ones
better, as a mobo and proccesor and ram setup, also
if suggesting other stuff please use ebuyer.com and
overclockersuk as those are the only sites i use,
thanks :)

My guess is you get what you pay for. I think amd and intel have the processor priced at what the tests tend to show.

Once they find the processor rocks they keep the price up. If they find it is getting beat then the price drops.

I didn't know the i5 supported ddr3, thought you had to run ddr2 in it. i7 is the ddr3 only deal. Might be wrong on that.

I've only done this comparison once myself and it was much older equipment. What I found was that Amd was a little quicker with a lot of different tests and a little more expensive at the time, about 7 years ago. What kept me with intel was that the Amd cpu I used ran almost 20c higher and that was important to me at the time. Both those systems are still working fine at the moment. The Amd still running hotter. Iguess it depends on what's important to the user.
