CPU/Ram: Intel(r) pentium(r) M
Model/Manufacturer: Gateway!
Comment:

Hi experts,
I got a LAPTOP from the friend of mine, and it is GATEWAY MODEL: CX200X
G6120P2Y.
CPU TYPE: Intel® Pentium ® M Processor
CPU Speed: 1733 MHZ
L2 Cache ram: 2048 KB
Total Memory: 512 MB (dual channel mode)
Video memory: 64 MB.

As soon as I start this laptop, its screen says “ A DISK READ ERROR OCCRRED
PLEASE PRESS CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart.” Even if I press the ctrl+alt+del…. nothing works for restart, in that I have press power button to shutdown & restart. But the same message again appears in the LAPTOP screen.
Many Thanks for any solution!

Surely the laptop starts to boot, with various displays on the screen, *THEN* displays the disc read error message when it attempts to load the operating system from the hdd, rather than *AS SOON AS I START* the laptop.

If this is the case you need to look at your options on how to load the operating system in another way.

Possible you have a cd with a recovery procedure. Once the o/s is loaded you can then see if the hdd may be accessed.

However it could be that the hdd has failed.

Advise how you get on.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.

Check your hard drive.
See the latter part of response 1 in this:

If you don't have a floppy drive, you can get a CD image diagnostic utility from most hard drive manufacturer's web sites, but obviously you would need to make a burned CD, preferably a CD-R for best compatibilty, on another computer if you need to.

Thanks for reply Mike & dear experts,
The laptop starts to boot, with various displays on the screen, then displays the disc read error message when it attempts to load the operating system from the hdd, and I can’t get into the safe mode because it displays the error message pretty quickly before displaying the OS.
Thanks again for replying about this windows Xp tablet Pc edition Laptop!
