I'm in need of a new video card and I've narrowed it down to 256 mb radeon 9800 xt, or the nvidia 256 mb fx 5950. I'd like to get some opinions on both cards and see which one would be best for games.
FX as they wrote DOOM3 sepcifically for it. And EVERYONE is going to be playing it no doubt....

Your gonna spend that much for a card just for doom3?
The 9800XT will run rings around the 5950 on Halflife 2 and all other upcoming dX9 games.
If you have to buy now, get the 9800xt.
If you like Nvidia, wait for the next generation (NV40) cards, due out "soon". The dx9 problems will be not be present in those cards and they will be killer.
