CPU/Ram: Athlon Xp 2000 1 gig ddr
Product: ECS KT600-A
Comment:

I have an athlon xp 2000. KT600 motherboard low end system. I'm thinking the 9700 is the most bang for my buck. I'm not really a big computer gamer. I do more video editing, but someone check the link below and tell me if the company PCProgress is legit and if what they are selling is a true 9700 pro. Is there any big negative from buying oem video cards?

I suggest you look at the ratings for this vendor at resellerratings.com. It appears they were inactive for quite awile. I personnally only buy from Newegg.com or Mwave.com. Powered by ATI can be good values. Generally speaking the OEMs get a little more out of the chip than ATI does for a little less cash.

Thanks for the help. I assume oem is refering to an off brand. The card seems a little cheap even if it is outdated. Guess i will try to email the company and get the real specs. I bet it is a lesser card and not a true 9700 for the price.

Your bigger concern should be the company, NOT the card!

I agree & you should not have much to worry about if the purchase is being made I assume with a CC. Anything goes wrong and you can dispute the transaction.

I used to own that card and it was a good & rugged card (took a lot of abuse) when I had it, but it is a power hog and if you currently own a sub-par PSU, it'd be better for you to buy something that isn't as power hungry.

'OEM' normally means it comes in a plain brown or plain white box with no extras like CDs / Games / booklets / TV out connectors etc / big brightly coloured box - but who needs all that anyway? If you know how to fit it and where to download drivers from then it doesn't make much difference.
( I am only commenting on the term OEM in general, not your specific card or supplier)
