9400gt or 220gt?

October 12, 2009 at 19:28:40
Specs: Windows Vista, 4400+Brisbane/3gb

Ok I don't want to upgrade my 300watt 19amp
power supply. I'm affraid I'll replace it and it
won't turn on etc.

So I was going to snag the 9400gt, but then I
realize that the 210 & 220 was just released,
and I think I saw somewhere that it has a
lower power consumption than the 4650/70
performance/watt.

I just don't know if I should get this new
hardware worried that the drivers won't support
some of the games I play etc....

so should I just get the 9400gt?

btw I don't game hard, just need something better than the 6150se onboard.

Of the three cards you listed, looks like a 512Mb GT220 would be the way to go...but, my choice would still be a HD4670.

Nvidia 9400gt has 550mhz core clock and 800mhz of memory ddr2 while ati hd 4670 has 750mhz core clock and 900mhz ddr3 memory clock and you have already see the difference.Like SkipCox said go 4 hd4670 512mb with your psu the card will run fine.

3rd vote for the HD4670. The 9400GT is junk.

ok I kinda went against your guys advice and got the 9400gt
reason being I wanted a card with a passive heatsink for no
noise...

I didn't see any good prices passive color 4650's in my price
range.

I got the sparkle 9400 1gb model for $45.00

It should be able to make out EVE online at 1080right? that's
why I bought it, I don't game hard, but I think it should be able
to handle that game, since I play with a 6150se on it.

I also bought a new monitor to go with the card

I hope I got a good deal :D

I used to own a I-Inc 19'' but it died on me after a year and half
, so I'm kinda nervous.

"I kinda went against your guys advice and got the 9400gt"

You didn't "kinda" go against it, you DID go against it & you ended up buying a low end piece of sh!t card. Good for you! That's what we like to see...people who like to waste our time. May your problems with your new "gaming card" be many.
