Ok i have this crap computer that i wanted to put more RAM into. Originally it had a 256mb and a 128mb DDR ram installed. I had the same exact computer missing a hard drive so i took the one 256mb stick out and put it in place of the 128mb in the pc im working on now to make it have 512mb RAM. So i did that and the computer recognized the upgrade. But now when i turn on my pc it says this messege, "917- Expansion riser not detected.Unplug machine and install riser." So i thought maybe the ram was bad so i put back in the 128mb and still recieve the same messege. However it gives me the option to boot by pressing F1 at this error prompt. So my question is how to i install the riser or how can i get rid of this messege.

Sounds like you knocked something loose while fiddling around inside the case. Check the connections & make sure the riser card is fully seated in it's slot.

The riser card connects to the motherboard and this card usually houses your pci add in cards. You knocked this loose somehow while inside the case.

Thanks i didnt quite know what it was. But i saw the riser print on the card and it was barely out. Once i put it back in it worked perfect. Thanks again.
