Specs: Windows 7 ultimate 64bit, 4.082 GHz / 4087 MB
I have ordered a XFX HD 6970 2GB. Currently i am using a HD-5850. I have a 650watt PSU but it only has 1 6pin PCI power connector but i am using a 6pin adapter. I believe that the XFX model does not come with the 8pin connector that other manufactures send. Will two 6pin power connectors power the 6970 or will i have to buy a separate 8pin adapter?

You'll need 1 six pin and 1 eight pin connector. You can't substitute either.

Post the full model of the power supply.

That graphics card pulls approx. 34A@12V under full load. That is a lot of amps. Stating you have a 650W PSU is meaningless.

My PSU is powerful enough to supply the card the power it needs! That's not my problem, all I need to know is will I need both a 6pin and 8pin or just two 6pin connectors! I ask this as some sites say I need the 6 and 8 and other site say I need just two 6! I have two 6 pin but will I need to buy a 8 pin adapter?

Radeon HD 6970 Tdp 250w that is 21A from +12v rail, it can use more than 250w but iam sure it will not reach 408w.

Below are 4 reviews of various versions of that GPU

408W = 34A@12V

315W = 26.25A@12V

331W = 27.58A@12V

306W = 25.5A@12V
