Hello all,
I am building a new PC. I'm not new to this, but I must admit, those Apevia PSU with the acrylic casing look spectacular in a Nine Hundred case. I own a 500w just like it and it has kept my old PC running 24/7 for about 4 years without a hic-up. Time to upgrade, for doing graphics work isn't fun on my current rig.
Now my question is, can a 680w satisfy a Q6600 and a eVGA 8800GTX with a ASUS P35 board? 2GB 6400C4D will also be added along with a 3GB/s WD HDD.
I just need some power consumption details oh each item.
Hardware (Excluding the PUS) will not change unless a drastic error is detected which I doubt.

TRy this psu calculator...

You should not buy a PSU based on how pretty it is. I don't know how good Apevia units are now, but they used to be called "Aspire". Aspire had a horrible reputation & there was a bit of a "scandal" a few years ago involving the deliberate misrepresentation of their 500W units...I believe that is what inspired the name change to Apevia.
Anyhow, amperage is what's important, especially on the +12v. If the PSU has multiple +12v rails, each should be 18A. If it has a single +12v rail, it should be no less than 30A.
Beware the amperage on the +5v rail as it is underultilized in today's PCs. Some PSU manufacturers load up the amperage on the +5v rail to falsely bump up the overall wattage rating of their units. For example...+5v @ 50A can account for as much as 250W. There's very little reason to have much more than 20A on the +5v these days.

yea i agree dont look at the 550watt bit look at the +12 rails single def 30a and double rails must be 18a each i had big problems with a ati card needs a 30a rail i was runing it on a 18a not good not have new psu 30a single rail and all is fine ezcool i use
