Hi
check your power supply unit has enough juice to run the 6600, some 350 watt psu's dont make the grade, so if your brother is willing swap out psu's see if thats the issue. the Gt runs at approx 20 watt mainstream 40 watt under load.

No, that's not the BIOS version, that's the BIOS brand. The BIOS version is displayed on the boot screen when you 1st startup the PC. Or you may find it by using CPUZ & clicking on the mainboard tab. The latest version is 28, dated 9-10-2004
If you don't have CPUZ, download it, unzip it, then click on CPUZ.exe. Check both the memory & SPD tabs to see what's listed:
Summary: So, it was working OK. Then for a period of time it was not under your control. Then the next time you booted up, what happened--error messages, etc? After you corrected the altered cabling and boot...
Summary: Ah damn it, I really want to know if the video card death was caused by OC'ing cause the card is dead now and I can't prove that someone OC'ed the card and died... ...
