64 bit cpu chows as tow in a 32bit os?

Specs: xp32, 555 phenom
Ok, I was told this by many people and I'm pretty sure its true. If I have a 64bit cpu it will show as two in a 32bit os. If this is in fact the case why wont a dual core 64 bit show as 4 in a 32 bit os?

Maybe a dumb question but I cant find the answer out there.

Because you original premise is wrong. Whoever told you that a 64 bit CPU will show up as two in a 32 bit OS was talking crap. When running a 32 bit OS on a 64 bit CPU the other 32 bits are just ignored.

There is a lot more to a CPU than the width of the data bus!.

Ah very good then thx! Perhaps I confused it with hyperthreading.

You probably where. Hyper threading can makes it look as if you have two CPU's but than happens on a 32 bit CPU with a 32 bit OS.
