6 beeps, no video on boot up

Specs: Windows XP
Anyone that can help. My daughter has a Dell Dimension E310 that had 512 MB RAM. I wanted to upgrade the memory for her since it was going slow and she likes to play SIMS. Anyway I got two 2X1GB RAM that I bought from the Dell website (recommended) and installed them. When I turned the computer back on there was no video at all. Just a blank screen. I hooked up my laptop to it and it worked fine so I know its not the monitor. Then I took out the little battery in it, waited about 30 min, put it back in and tried it again. Still no video but this time I had beeps (no beeps at all the first time). 6 total beeps. 4 then a second or two pause and then 2 more. The cards are the same ones that I put in my sons computer and it works fine. I did everything the same with hers but for some reason, I cant get any video to the monitor and now there are the beeps. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
It is running Windows XP. If any other info is needed just let me know. I am a novice computer user. I know some things but not details, still learning. Thank you

have you tried taking out the ram you bought and putting in the original sticks in......make sure it's turned off;)

Start there, maybe the ram is not the right kind....not seated properly........who knows...but try the original ram. An incorrect type of ram will not fit and if it does...............also does this have integrated graphics or is it a seperate graphics card....is it seated well?
