im wondering what the AMD x2 5600+ dual core @ 2.8ghz is actually running at? is it actually 2.8ghz? alot of games require like 3 or 4ghz intel pentium 4 processors i don't understand how that works. its one of the latest cards this year and yet it doesnt keep up with games?

This has been asked & answered many times before. AMD's model number is based on a "performance rating system" & is basically a comparison to Intel's P4 line. So even though your CPU runs at "only" 2.8GHz, it's roughly as fast as a P4 running at 5.6GHz (if there was such a thing).
Have a look at the following chart. The X2 5600+ vs P4 3.8GHz are in red...you'll see the X2 5600+ rates quite a bit higher on the chart:
BTW, if you look at the CPUs that beat the X2 5600+, many of them are clocked even "slower" than 2.8GHz.

i was thinking that and have always thought that until i looked at the core duo E6300 @ i think it was 1.86ghz and was thinking why the heck it was that. and thinkin back is it just for the pentium 4 line and not the dual cores? because the X2 5600+ is compared with the E6300 duo core. also i just wanted to pick up the 2900XT without it being bottlenecked.
