Ok, well this is a question that I have had for a while but never really got an answer to.

I have the Samsung 52x32x52x16 CDRW/DVD SM-352 (beige).

When I burn in Nero it won't burn at 52x. I forget what speed it burns at, but it isn't 52x.

I checked everywhere in Nero, I cannot change it to burn at 52x.

I'm burning to CD-Rs, not CD-RWs, and according to the specs it should write at 52x.

Anyone know why it won't burn at 52x like it should?

I've had the drive for a while and it's never burned at 52x so I know that it isn't broken.

I was told once that the '52x' speed is more of a marketing scheme than anything else and that CDRWs don't really burn at that speed.

But my friend's CDRW burns at 52x like it should, any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

You can burn at 52x. I almost GAURANTEE it is the speed of the media you are using.

I've used different types of media and none of them have ever burned at 52x.

The ones I am using now is a spool of SONY CD-R's...

Oh actually...

Looking at the website where I got them they say 48x.

Hmmm. I guess I'll have to try another type of CDR...

Thanks for the reply!

Before you go out and slurge on other brands of recordable media, try this:

Open Nero >> File >> Preferences >> Cache >> Test All Drive Speeds, after that Nero should allow you to burn at the drive's maximum speed if the media supports the speed.

It's generally not recommended to burn at max speed anyway.
