I'm wondering if anyone knows of a program that will display the speed of a floppy drive as it's running. I need to knock down the speed of a Teac FD-55GFR 149-U from 300 to 288 in order to read some old disks formatted with an Atari1050.

About 15 years ago, I used a program called TestDrive from Microsystems Development. Sure don't know where to get it now though.
On a whim, I called a friend who grew up working on this old stuff. He recalled a couple more programs:
Readiscope by Dysan and Disk Drive Analyzer by Verbatim.
I wonder if a drive will adjust that much? That would be 4% out of spec...never seen one that far out.

The DOS utilities available in FDFORMAT claim to be able to format Atari ST disk, it would seem logical that they can read them. Here is a link to an archive which has FDFORMAT: http://sac-ftp.externet.hu/utildisk... This is pure DOS stuff, there is a DOS TSR you load which allows the computer to read and write "non-DOS" formats, it probably won't work right under ME. There are also a lot of other utlities available on the same archive which might help you out, FDFORMAT is the only one I have personal experience with and it is free to use, not shareware or a demo (which many of the utilities on the site are).
