Hi
I have a CREATIVE 5.1 Sound System. All the speakers work.
On my computer it is set up to use 5.1 Surround, as well as SPEAKER FILL.
I get my sound from all the speakers bar by FRONT LEFT.
At the moment it is a clean install with none of GIGABYTE's provided software installed. If installing GIGABYTE drivers/software might fix the problem should I download the one located on their website or the one supplied on the CD that came with the motherboard.
I might also have wrongly configured or something I don't know.
Ideally I would like to find a fix rather than adding to my one remaing PCI Slot for a sound card espcially when the one on my motherboard is supposed to be top notch.

Many Thanks,
Joseph Middleton

Hi
Yes. After conducting a Windows Update, my graphics card etc all worked how they should.
Should I consider replacing all of them with the manufacturer's drivers?

Many Thanks,
Joseph Middleton

What's the make/model of your board? And what video card are you running?

It's needed so I can find the correct drivers. You said you haven't installed them:

I have installed the AUDIO drivers before and it has not resolved the problem. I will download anyway and let you know of the outcome...

After installing the drivers from the website you provided (which I have used before) as expected has not solved the problem.
Could there be a problem with my sound card and if so can you suggest a budget PCI Soundcard.

Many Thanks,
Joseph Middleton

OK, you're 100% certain that your speakers are fully functional? Did you configure your audio outputs for a 5.1 speaker system as per Chapter 5-2 (page 83) of your motherboard manual?

Yes 100% sure.
Especially because
a) I have swapped the speakers around and all the speakers play sound.
b) The Front Right Speaker works so the left must be in the right jack.

Many Thanks,

You didn't answer my question. Did you configure your audio outputs for a 5.1 speaker system?

The manual specifically states:

"Step 1:
After installing the audio driver, the Audio Manager icon will appear in your system tray. Double-click the icon to access the Audio Control Panel.

!CAUTION! Before installing the audio driver, make sure the "Microsoft UAA Bus driver for High Definition Audio" has been installed from the motherboard driver disk and your operating system has been updated with the latest Service Pack for Windows

(Note) 2/4/5.1/7.1- Channel Audio Configurations:

Refer to the following for multi-channel speaker configurations.
• 2 -channel audio: Headphone or Line out.
• 4- channel audio: Front speaker out and Rear speaker out.
5.1- channel audio: Front speaker out, Rear speaker out, and Center/Subwoofer speaker out.
• 7.1 -channel audio: Front speaker out, Rear speaker out, Center/Subwoofer speaker out, and Side speaker out.

Step 2:
Click the Audio I/O tab. In the speaker list on the left, select 2CH Speaker, 4CH Speaker, 6CH Speaker, or 8CH Speaker according to the type of speaker configuration you wish to set up.

Step 3:
Everytime you connect an audio device to an audio jack, the Connected device box appears. Select the device according to the type of device you connect. Then click OK to complete the configuration."

Did you follow all the above steps when setting up the audio?

Exactly? You installed the "Microsoft UAA Bus driver for High Definition Audio" from the motherboard CD before installing the sound drivers? It must be important that it's done that way because the manual has a triangular CAUTION icon to draw your attention to it.

Hi
Microsoft UAA Bus driver for High Definition Audio is the driver that can be found on the gigabyte website so it IS the driver. As a result cannot be installed BEFORE the driver.

Many Thanks,
Joseph Middleton

Whatever dude. Apparently you know more than Gigabyte because they state there are TWO drivers...the bus driver & the audio driver. The bus driver MUST be installed 1st, THEN the audio.

Well, when I looked & downloaded the UAA driver, it installed the exact same software that was found on the Gigabyte website.
It also states that Windws Vista already has installed the UAA drvier, the separate UAA driver is needed foo 2k and below. Thanks for your help anyway, I will get in touch with Gigabyte to help me further.

Many Thanks,
Joseph Middleton
