i have recently brought a logitach x-530 5.1 system for my pc. im using a dell 4700 dimension desktop. i have plugged up my speakers but all five speakers wont work for sum applications such as dvd and music. if i go to my dvd settings it asks me to choose my speaker type. i have a selection of : 2 speakers or headphones. all five speakers work on sum games like doom 3 but on others the arent picked up. wat can i do to solve these issues. i would really love to play music from all 5 speakers but atm i only get from front left and right. any help would be greatly appreciated

Does your sound card have 5.1 support, and if so, does it have a utility to tell it that you have 5.1 speakers connected?

Without knowing what applications are giving you issues, it is hard to tell. some apps do not have support for 5.1 sound.

Dell 4700s seem to have issues with some 5.1 sound systems. Have you looked for updated drivers from Dell?

Unless the source is 5.1 not all of the speakers will work. There are some amps which can fake the missing channels.
