5.1 into 4.1

Hi.
Here's the deal. I was going to buy a 2.1 speakers to use with my old Audigy 2 ZS and I remembered that I had my old Creative Inspire 5.1 speakers. However the center speaker was broken so I thought I could configure my 5.1 as 4.1 but I can't get the SubWoofer to work. I mean I think its working but I can't test it in the Creative Audigy control center. I can only test 4.0.
How can I turn my 5.1 into 4.1?
