Subject: 4GB RAM on ASROCK 775Dual-VSTA
OS: Vista Ultimate
CPU/Ram: E6300
Model/Manufacturer: ASROCK
Comment:
G'day, I recently bought 2 x 2GB sticks of kingston DDR2
RAM to upgrade my computer. Both the sticks work
individually and in either of the DDR2 sockets. However when
both sticks are in, nothing happens. The computer turns on,
but nothing happens! No OS, No BIOS the harddrive dosent
even sound like it is spinning up!

You should always look at the manual, board manufacturer's website, or use a memory configurator to find out how much RAM a board can accept. The ASROCK 775Dual-VSTA accepts a max of 2GB, preferrably as 2 x 1GB in dual channel mode.

Here you go, direct from the ASROCK website:

"Max. capacity of system memory: 2GB"

Confirmed at Crucial.com:

4gb ram (ddr2 2 x 2gb) can be used with modified BIOS 3.10A

BIOS 3.10A is available from:

I had the same problem and am now running this motherboard with 4gb $80 ram (3.5gb recognized in 32 bit OS)
