I know what 4.1 and 5.1 are but is there a noticable difference between the two? I'm thinking of getting either a cheat 5.1 or a nice 4.1. Take a look, which should i buy:

It depends on what you use your computer for. If it's going to be you main entertainment center or if you use it for high quallity gaming go with 5.1 For use with gaming and some music playing go 4.1 If you only play a little bit of music and do little gaming stick with 2 speakers. Also be carful in buying a cheap 5.1 as the sound may be worse than a good 4.1

The main difference is the center channel. 5.1 has a dedicated center channel as 4.1 doesnt. If you are going to spread the speakers out a lot and really want the full surround experience, the 5.1 is much better, but if your like most people and just want good sound, then the 4.1 is much more economical.
actually listen to the speakers before you buy them. I have heard some really awful 5.1 .
