I need a new system fan and my motherboard has a 2pin connector. I can only find 3 pin connector fans though, and I found this handy gagdet online:

My first question is, would this do the trick so I can get a new system fan? And second, would I want the "3Pin Male to 2Pin Female" or the "3Pin Female to 2Pin Male" ?

As said before, the plug on my motherboard is 2pin, and you can see a decent picture of it here: (you can zoom in...)

There is no need, a 3 pin fan will fit onto your mobo.
I have looked at the picture you linked to, and read the manual for it. Look at the picture you linked to, and you will see on the right hand side, halfway down the board, there are 2 3 pin sockets (near the processor. The top one is for the cpu fan, the bottom one for a system fan. Use the top one.

I saw that in my mobo manual but didn't think much of it.

I just take out the old "8x gigabyte" fan and put it in the same spot, and the wires should reach over to there? I don't want to buy a new fan (though theyre cheap) to find out the cord is to short.

Also, are there any good fans you could suggest for a system fan? I've seen a few online, but none look too nice...

Just get a northbridge heatsink that doesn't require a fan, way quieter.

Sorry, just gave you duff info. you need a graphics card fan, not a cpu fan. size is usually smaller than cpu fan.
