this is the readings i got from bios

+5v = 4.7
+3.3v = 3.34
vcore = 1.725 ~ 1.712

is this bad..? the comp dozent reboot or anything but its not stable when i connect more fans..

the things i have:
2*cd-rom
3*hd
2*ethernet + onboard 2 ethernet
1*tv-card
1*ata133 disk controller
1*geforce4mx420 agp (soon ti4200 128- 8x)
1*isdn card
2*120 mm fans
1*volcano 12

when i connect two more 120 fans it wont boot.... do i need a better psu?

it is a 300 watt that came with my chassis wich is aopen hq8 something...

will it be better if i get a 450 watt or even a 600?

thanks for any help

400watts will be enough to supply the power you needs. It seems like you have a low quaility power supply. Your 12V and 5V if off the chart, that could cause a problem to your system stability.

Buy quality PS like an Antec. All PS aren't created equal. Generally, the more you spend, the better the quality of the PS.

OtheHill is right on. Since you are doing work on extra drives, you will need a bit more power, something like 450 to 500 watts. Look for a quality brand name unit; don't spring for the cheapest you can find. On the other hand, a lot of brands are over priced. Check the Tiger site, and look into maybe, a server supply, if it will fit your case. HTH

Just check the specs as I said before. You will quickly understand. Look at the output on the different rails and how far out of spec the tested voltages are. I mentioned to use Antec as a gauge because I know they have these spec on their site. If you can't find detailed specs for a PS then its probably not good quality. Check out the PS below.

Well I've got an Athlon XP 2000+, 256mb PC2100 Ram, a radeon 9600 pro with coloured led lights, a volcano 11+ and a thermaltake xaser 2000+ (7 2080rpm 80mm fans, LCD display that controls fan voltage) all running off a generic 400W PSU. But I only ave 1 40gb 5400rpm HDD and A sony DRU-510A.
