Comment:

I recently bought 2 1GB DDR Ram 400Mhz sticks of the internet to put in my Socket 754 Motherboard (Asus K8V-MX) though trying to put just 1 or both in causes the computer not to boot at all (i.e. nothing appears on the screen). I originally had 256MB Ram in each slot.

The motherboard says it supports 1GB in each slot.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Their memory finder should state what memory is supported, not all PC3200/DDR400 is the same....

Does the mobo manual list recommended memory ??

Thanks I looked on the site and it says the ones I have are supported so don't know why it wouldn't work.

Two 1024MB (1GB) DIMM
PC3200 400Mhz DDR Memory (Backwards Compatible with PC2700 and PC2100)
Chip Configuration: 128x64
Chip Density: 128x4 (High Density)
Unbuffered, Non Ecc, Non Registered
Voltage: 2.5V CAS Latency: 3
184 Gold-Plated Pins, SPD Support

I thought i might need to change some jumpers on the motherboard somewhere but can't find any related to RAM?
